Ilkay Gundogan has hailed the ability of his Manchester City teammate Sergio Aguero after the Argentina striker once again found the net in his sides 5-0 romp over Cardiff City last weekend.
Aguero’s clinical strike in South Wales capped a great week for the lethal frontman, with the 30-year-old having signed a new contract that will see him stay at the Etihad until 2021 last Friday.
The prolific striker is already Man City’s all-time leading goalscorer with 205 goals and Gundogan has admitted that Aguero’s ability to score out of nothing makes him one of City’s most important players.
“Sergio is one of our most important players because he is always able to score,” Gundogan told reporters after his sides victory over Cardiff.
“You always know he can score out of nothing like he did here.
“We are very happy he has committed his future to the club to help us win a lot more games.
“But it’s not just Sergio, all of us are hungry for success.
“It was very important to bounce back after the defeat to Lyon in the Champions League.
“It’s always tough playing after a midweek game, but we took it very seriously from the beginning and played very well.”
