Manchester City manager Pep Gaurdiola seems to harbour no hard feelings over Alexis Sanchez’s decision to snub a move to the Etihad in favour of joining up with Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
The former Barcelona coach was speaking before his sides Premier League clash against Newcastle tomorrow and said:
“I am not the guy with the numbers. What I know right now is that Alexis is an Arsenal player and I think he’ll go to United so congratulations to both of them and good luck.
“The players and the managers decide what is best for both of them.
“There is nothing to add. My opinion of Alexis remains the same.
“It was a pleasure to be with him in Barcelona and he has decided to move to another club. I wish him all the best.”
City almost signed the Chile international last summer, and most observers expected him to move to the Etihad to link up with his former coach either this month or next summer.
However, Manchester United recently entered the race for the talented attackers signature. The Old Trafford club now seem to have secured the players services after offering Armenian playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Arsenal in part exchange, and superior personal terms to Sanchez.
