Guardiola thanks Everton fans

Pep Guardiola has thanked Everton fans after some stayed behind to show their appreciation to the Champions elect.

Everton are one of only four teams that have been able to take a point from City having drawn 1-1 at the Etihad earlier this season. Since then, City have gone on to amass an incredible 84 points with still seven games to play, and have the chance to wrap up the title next week in the Manchester Derby.

Not only have they managed to accumulate so many points, they have done so in impressive style with some incredible performances.

The Cityzens grabbed their 27th League win of the season on Saturday with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Everton at Goodison Park, and while a number of Everton fans left early, many of those that stayed to the end applauded City’s players off the field, so impressive had their performance been.

Speaking after the game, Guardiola was asked about what he thought about the appreciation shown by the Toffees fans at full time:

“Maybe (it was) because we are going to play against Liverpool,” said the Catalan.

“But thank you so much. For people who love football to enjoy how we play, that is satisfaction. Last season I applauded them after the 4-0 (defeat).”
