Pep Guardiola has said that Everton’s Brazilian international striker Richarlison, is a top player.
The City boss seems to have been a fan of Richarlison’s play since his arrival in the Premier League at Watford last season.
“Richarlison did so well with Watford, then when Marco Silva went to Everton, he brought him with him,” said Guardiola at his pre-match press conference today.
“He is a top player, very fast and goes right and left, that’s why they paid a lot of money for him.”
Whether Guardiola employs a specific defensive shape or tactic to nullify the threat posed by Richarlison on Saturday remains to be seen.
Still only 21, Richarlison has already scored eight goals in his 14 league appearances for The Toffees this season. He only managed five goals in 38 appearances for Watford last season so he has already improved on that before the mid-way point of this campaign.
Saturday’s game at City will provide Richarlison and his Everton teammates with a challenge of a whole different level, however.
