As a wonderful season of Premier League football draws to a close, Pep Guardiola has been dishing out the praise for his managerial rivals, with Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp being afforded a special mention from the Catalan.
While City ran away with the league in what was a record breaking season, Manchester United were their nearest โchallengersโ, finishing 19 points behind in second place in the table.
United were one of only two teams to beat Guadiolaโs champions in the league this season, and despite their long standing rivalry, the City boss has taken the time to praise his United counterpart, while taking a slight swipe at his defensive style of football.
“Of course Jose is always a huge competitor,” he told Sky Sports
“How he convinces them to be his teams…I admire the big, big quality teams always be like soldiers in the way they defend and defend, and the qualities they have.
โI enjoy watching football and the way different teams play.โ
Guardiola also admitted he enjoys watching Liverpool, the other team who beat City in the league, as well as twice in the Champions League.
He added: โLiverpool is magnificent. I suffered against Klopp in Germany.
โThe transitions and the way they attack inside so quickly.โ
