Manchester City moved into the outright lead in the Premier League today after they trashed Southampton 6-1 at the Etihad.
However, Man City manager Pep Guardiola insisted after his sides latest high scoring victory that it is still too early in the season to read into his team being top of the pile, with the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach quick to talk up the ability of the other top six clubs.
“It is not decisive. It is important to be there than below but the distance of two or three points is nothing.’’ Guardiola told Sky Sports.
”We saw Arsenal yesterday and how good they did against Liverpool. Tottenham too, away at Wolves. United are always there. It is a tough league but it is important we are stable. It is most important that we don’t have regrets.”
Reigning Champions City’s next assignment in the Premier League is a mouth-watering Manchester Derby next Sunday at the Etihad.
