Guardiola wants Walker and Bernardo to remain at Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has reiterated his desire to keep Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva at Manchester City this season.

Walker has been subject of an approach from Bayern Munich this summer, while Silva has consistently been linked with an exit in recent transfer windows.

The Portugal international is understood to be open to a new challenge and has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

City have already seen the experienced Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez during the current window and Guardiola has reaffirmed his desire to keep hold of both Walker and Silva.

“Regarding Kyle [Walker] and Bernardo [Silva] what could I say. They are so important for us. We want them, we are going to do everything (to keep them),” Guardiola said at a pre-match press conference ahead of this weekend’s Community Shield clash with Arsenal.

“He (Silva) has a contract. We want him to stay because he wants to stay. We will do everything.

“These two players’ [situations] are difficult – we have already lost two incredible players. They scored goals in big important games. To lose Kyle and Bernardo would be so difficult. We will do everything to keep them.”
