Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been hailing the quality and versatility of his new £60 million signing Riyad Mahrez.
The Citizens romped to the Premier League title in record-breaking fashion last season, and the addition of the classy former Leicester City attacker will make their already star-studded attack an even more fearsome proposition.
Guardiola also reckons that the 2015/16 Player of the Year’s experience of English football will also make it easier for him to be able to make an impact for his new clubs straight away.
“There’s no doubt about the quality of Mahrez,” he told Sky Sports’ Premier League launch show.
“He can play in three or four positions. He can play in the middle, but also right and left.
“With his addition, we could also give a little bit more competition to our strikers and wingers. He also knows the Premier League and is not a guy that comes from Spain, Italy or another country where they might need a little more time.
“Riyad already knows absolutely everything there and I think he’s going to settle quite well into our team.”
