Guardiola confirms several players set to leave Man City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that several of his squad are set to leave the club.

Speaking after City’s 3-0 pre-season victory over Tottenham at the Nissan stadium in Nashville, Guardiola confirmed that he likes of Samir Nasri, Eliaquim Mangala, Wilfried Bony and Kelechi Iheanacho are not part of his plans beyond the summer.

Samir Nasri was ostracised from the group last year, being made to train on his own after returning to pre-season overweight

“We wanted to keep him last pre-season, but he decided to go to Sevilla.

“He knows the situation. We have a lot of midfield players.

“We’re going to see. It is like (Eliaquim) Mangala. That’s a decision they have to take with their managers. We take care of them when they are here.

Despite admitting that Nasri’s time at City is coming to an end, Guardiola took time out to praise the former Arsenal midfielders attitude and performances in this current pre-season tour.

“I saw him in these three games and his spirit in the training sessions.

“Still I’m waiting for a bad performance. He’s a guy who has unbelievable ability to keep the ball in small spaces.

“The ball is safe. He has his own special quality. The group are satisfied with him and his behaviour.”

Guardiola has confirmed that Iheanacho is close to a move to Leicester, in a deal thought to be worth around £25million:

“I think Kelechi is going to leave, for Leicester.

“I think so, but I don’t want to say something wrong. If it doesn’t happen he will be part of the group.”

Meanwhile, Fabian Delph has been linked with a move to Stoke, Bony to Swansea, while Juventus are interested in signing Mangala.
