Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been lauding centre-back Aymeric Laporte, saying that the Frenchman has all the attributes ‘to play at a high level’.
The 24-year-old made the £57 million move from Athletic Bilbao back in January, and despite initially taking a little while to force his way into the Man City side, he has now started all ten of the champion’s Premier League games so far this season.
City are back at the top of the table by virtue of their superior goal difference over title rivals Liverpool, and speaking ahead of his side’s game against Southampton at the weekend, City boss Pep Guardiola has praised the Frenchman, saying that he possesses the arrogance to play in the English top flight.
“Laporte is strong and physical,” Guardiola said at his Friday press conference.
“He has a good personality and the arrogance to play at a high level.
“He’s fresh for us because he has not been selected for the national team. But he is a young player and we are so satisfied at his level so far.”
