Pep Guardiola has admitted that Raheem Sterling could leave the club after a sensational season for Manchester City.

The former Liverpool forward has become a key player under the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss, scoring 20 and providing 11 assists for the Premier League leaders.

However, with Sterling yet to agree to to a new contract, Guardiola believes that the England internationals form is bound to have attracted attention from other clubs.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of his side’s game against Everton, Guardiola insisted he had nothing to do with contract negotiations, and that despite Sterling being an important player, he could leave the club.

In terms of contracts I’m not the guy, it’s Txiki [Begiristain] who’s talking about that.

“No doubts, it’s so important that we keep him.

“But you know the deals are the deals. The agents and many circumstances, maybe other clubs are interested in him.

“Anything can happen but he knows how important he is to us.”

The winger has been linked as a potential target for Real Madrid.
