Pep Guardiola admits Manchester City are ‘really tired’ ahead of the club’s upcoming fixtures with Leeds and Real Madrid.
City’s pursuit of the Premier League title continues with a trip to face Leeds at Elland Road this weekend, with Guardiola’s side a point ahead of Arsenal in the title race.
The league leaders have won nine consecutive Premier League games to move top of the division, but Guardiola admits his team are showing signs of tiredness after a demanding schedule.
The Spaniard was asked whether he would look to rotate his squad this weekend, with City set to face Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday evening. Guardiola said his immediate focus is on an ‘important’ fixture with Leeds, before attentions turn to Europe.
“I will be focused on their physical and mental [state] for this game. After [that, then I will think about] Madrid,” Guardiola told his pre-match press conference.
“With the Premier League it is important to go four points in front of Arsenal. Really important that all our focus is on the game tomorrow.
“I’m thinking how, after a lot of games and tension, I see the team is really tired after the demand from West Ham and Fulham.
“I have to see how the players recover this, three days from the previous game.”
