Despite being on the bring of winning the title next weekend, Pep Guardiola claims that he is not yet focussing on the Manchester Derby.
City can win the the title by beating their Manchester rivals, United, next weekend, which would stretch their lead to an unassailable 19 points with still six games to play.
Speaking after his side’s 3-1 victory over Everton, the Catalan manager, who has consistently played down the hype surrounding his teams performances, admitted that he still cannot focus on the Manchester derby.
Guardiola, and his players of course, are preparing for their Champions League quarter-final first leg against Liverpool on Wednesday, and the former Barcelona boss says he is solely focussing on that fixture:
“We are closer than ever (to winning the Premier League). We have one game to win. If we are not able to win, we have six more chances. We are so, so close and so happy with the performance.
“I understand the people are talking about United now but all the decisions I am going to take is thinking about Liverpool – the game before United and after United. That is what it is.”
