Antoine Griezmann has announced that he will be staying at Atletico Madrid beyond this summer.
The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital for well over 12 months, with a move to Manchester United highly anticipated last summer.
However that deal didn’t happen thanks to Atletico’s failure to overturn a transfer embargo, a decision which would have prevented the Spanish giants buying a replacement.
Griezmann ultimately decided to do the right thing by his employers by not abandoning them, and since then Manchester United’s interest in the France international has cooled.
However, he has since been heavily linked with with a €100 million move to Spanish champions Barcelona, as they look to further tighten their grip on the La Liga title next season and make a better stab at the Champions League.
Griezmann has remained coy about his future in recent weeks, but now, in a sensational TV programme in Spain named ‘La Decision‘, he has announced that he will be staying at the Wanda Metropolitano beyond this summer.
He later tweeted “my fans, my team, my home.”
