Greenwood picks between Ronaldo and Messi, and reveals how he tries to emulate Ronaldo Nazario skill

Mason Greenwood has chosen his favourite between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, and has revealed how he tries to emulate the skills of Ronaldo Nazario.

The Manchester United forward was posed several questions during a Q&A with the club’s supporters, with the predictable choice between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi posed to the 20-year-old.

Comparisons have been tediously made between the two all-time greats over the past two decades, with the duo having shared 11 Ballon d’Or accolades between them in record-breaking careers of success.

Greenwood opted for Messi ahead of former Red Devils’ icon Ronaldo, hailing the Barcelona superstar as a footballer from ‘another planet’.

“For me, it’s always got to be Messi,” he told ManUtd.com. “For me, he’s just on another planet.

“Ronaldo is obviously amazing, a physical, great athletic footballer. But to do what Messi does at his size, what he’s done for Barcelona and winning that trophy for Argentina, he is just on another level.”

Greenwood also opened up on his role models in the game and revealed the step-over is his preferred skill, admitting to watching footage of Brazil great Ronaldo as he sought to perfect the move.

“My favourite skill move was the stepover and I still use it to this day,” he added.

“It’s my favourite skill move. I used to watch the Brazilian Ronaldo, as he would always pull one out on the goalkeepers and defenders. I used to practice at the parks and stuff and used to do it in training sessions, then that would lead on to games. And, now, it’s just stuck with me, it’s a little skill move that I practice.”
