Gravenberch discusses potentially leaving Bayern amid lack of minutes

Ryan Gravenberch has discussed the prospect of leaving Bayern Munich amid links to the Premier League.

The midfielder endured a frustrating first season at Bayern Munich after signing from Ajax last summer, with the 21-year-old restricted to just three league starts and 561 minutes of Bundesliga action.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Gravenberch as the Reds rebuild their midfield, while Arsenal and Manchester United have previously been credited with interest in the Dutchman.

Gravenberch is currently with the Netherlands u21 side at this summer’s European Championship and has opened up on a difficult debut season at Bayern. He admitted that he had expected to feature more prominently in the side and suggested he will consider an exit if his opportunities do not increase.

“To be honest, yes I am [disappointed with my lack of playing time this season],” Gravenberch told ESPN.

“I expected to play more minutes than I did. I thought I would get some more chances. It’s about just wanting to play, that’s the most important thing at my age. I hope it’ll be at Bayern – otherwise, we’ll just have to look further.

“I want to play, but the manager is picking other players. I have to accept it, but it’s difficult. I was hoping for more minutes but I have to stay calm. I told everyone that I don’t want another year like that. Of course you can’t always be in the starting XI, but you can still play regularly – you can get a lot of minutes.”
