Olivier Giroud reckons his club Chelsea are the top club in English Football.
Despite the 32-year-old striker only having moved to Stamford Bridge last January from Arsenal for an undisclosed fee, he was heavily linked with a return to his homeland with Marseille during the summer transfer window.
However, Giroud has stated that he never seriously considering leaving Chelsea after such a short period and he happy to be playing for such a successful club.
“For me, Chelsea is the top club in England, the one that has won the most titles over the last 10 years. I am where I wanted to be. So why leave?’’ Giroud told L’Equipe
“There was contact [from Marseille] last year, but nothing really concrete this summer. It did not go as far as was claimed. I had just arrived at Chelsea, it was not the time to pack my bags again three months later.”
It has been quite the year for the veteran striker, with Giroud winning the third FA Cup of his career with Chelsea last May, before tasting triumph at this summers World Cup in Russia with France.
