Steven Gerrard has said that Rangers now have a great opportunity to qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League following their 0-0 draw with Villarreal.
The Scottish giants sit third in their Group G, with all four sides still in with a chance of making it through to the last 32.
Their final group game is in two weeks time against Austrian outfit Rapid Vienna, and they know that a win will send them through to the knockout stages.
Rangers had to play for 46 minutes with 10 men when Daniel Candeias was sent off just before half-time for a second yellow card, leaving manager Gerrard delighted with his side’s performance.
“It feels like a win after going down to 10 men,” Gerrard told BT Sport.
“We’ve got an unbelievable opportunity to get to the round of 32. I said before that we would need four points and that’s proved to be the case.
“Defensively, we were excellent to a man. We are reaping the rewards from all of our hard work in pre-season.”
