Gerrard admits Liverpool fans were ‘bang out of order.’

Liverpool blew Manchester City away last night as they romped to a hugely impressive 3-0 victory in their Champions League quarter final first leg at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were in sensational form and made Pep Guardiola’s runaway Premier League leaders look ordinary for much of yesterdays encounter.

Speaking to BT Sport afterwards Liverpool legend Steven Gerard, labelled his former clubs performance as ”perfect,” and praised their defensive effort in keeping City scoreless.

“Defensively, to a man, I thought the back four were stunning and the goalkeeper (Loris Karius) is getting better and better.” He said.

“I think Jurgen Klopp will be delighted. City didn’t get the run of the ball and I thought they lacked a bit in the final third but at home they’re more than capable of getting goals.”

However, this superb win has been marred somewhat by unsavoury scenes that took place before the game, with Liverpool fans attacking the Man City coach on it’s way to Anfield. Gerrard condemned the fans involved and admitted that their actions had ”soured,” a famous victory.

“Scenes like this sour the night. We want a great atmosphere and to make it hostile but certain individuals have overstepped the mark and that’s bang out of order.” The 37-year-old said.
