Germany will face the Netherlands at the Johan Cruijff Arena on Thursday in their opening UEFA Nations League fixture, as Jürgen Klopp takes charge of his first match as an international manager.
Their World Cup campaign includes a dominant 7-1 win against Curaçao. They then recorded another narrow 2-1 win, this time against Ivory Coast. However, their progress was halted by a 2-1 group-stage defeat to Ecuador.
Germany’s summer campaign ended in disappointment. They were held to a 1-1 draw by Paraguay before suffering a 4-3 defeat in the penalty shootout, bringing their tournament run to an end. As a result, Klopp will be looking for an immediate response when his Germany side begins their Nations League campaign in Amsterdam.

Jürgen Klopp begins his much-anticipated reign with an experimental approach to the squad for the opening fixture.
The new Germany boss divided his initial international selections into a 44-man squad divided into two batches of call-ups. That decision means several leading players, including Florian Wirtz, have been rested and will not take part against the Netherlands tonight.
The German squad has also been affected by a small number of injury problems. Brajan Gruda withdrew from the team after suffering an abdominal issue, while Leon Goretzka and Angelo Stiller remain unavailable in midfield.
Even with those absences, Klopp has already made his goalkeeping decision clear. Marc-André ter Stegen has been confirmed as Germany’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper, ahead of Oliver Baumann.
Joshua Kimmich has also been appointed captain and is expected to control the game from central midfield. He is likely to operate alongside Felix Nmecha, while Germany’s attacking threat should be led by the creativity of Jamal Musiala and the finishing ability of Kai Havertz.
