Germany will face Serbia in their next UEFA Nations League fixture on Thursday at the Allianz Arena, with Die Mannschaft aiming to secure their first victory of the competition.

The hosts enter the contest searching for greater consistency under new head coach Jürgen Klopp. Germany began their Nations League campaign with a hard-earned 1-1 draw away against the Netherlands. However, that result was followed by a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Greece on Sunday, bringing their positive momentum to an immediate end. Die Mannschaft are now without a win in their last four matches, a run that stretches back to the World Cup, and currently sit third in Group A2 with only one point from their opening games.

Germany team news

Klopp has made extensive changes to the Germany squad as he continues with a strict two-team rotation plan during this international break.

Several key starters from the previous fixtures, including Joshua Kimmich, Jonathan Tah, and goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, have been sent back to their clubs.

As a result, only six players from the opening matches remain involved, while as many as nine players could make their Germany debuts. Among those in line to feature is 23-year-old goalkeeper Jonas Urbig.

Germany’s preparations have also been affected by a growing injury list. Defender Nico Schlotterbeck was ruled out late on Wednesday after sustaining a lateral ankle ligament injury during the final training session.

He joins attacking players Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala on the sidelines, with both players having withdrawn from the squad earlier because of muscle strains.

In response to the shortage of attacking options, Klopp has quickly added Florian Wirtz and Jonathan Burkardt to the matchday squad, giving Germany valuable extra cover in the final third.

Possible Germany starting XI: Urbig; Baku, Anton, Thiaw, Raum; Janelt, Pavlovic; Adeyemi, Bischof, Wirtz; Burkardt

When will the match kick off?

The match will kick off at 7:45pm BST on Thursday
