Alejandro Garnacho will become a Chelsea player after the Blues reportedly agreed on a transfer fee with Man Utd.
The west London outfit’s interest in the winger goes back to January, when they were initially linked with a move.
They remained interested in signing Garnacho this summer, while the player was said to be intent on a move to Stamford Bridge.
Progress on a deal has been slow, but the impending sale of Christopher Nkunku to AC Milan appears to have sped up the process considerably.
Garnacho transfer fee revealed as Chelsea agree deal with Man Utd
The Athletic report that Man Utd have agreed to sell Garnacho to Chelsea for a £40 million fixed fee. The deal includes a 10 per cent sell-on clause.
The Argentina international is set to undergo a medical on Friday before signing a seven-year contract.
Once completed, it will be the biggest sale of an academy graduate in Man Utd’s history and the fourth-biggest transfer fee they have ever received for a player.
Sky Sports News claim that the Red Devils “feel it is a good, pragmatic deal, delivering their largest sale fee for five years. They also believe it is a good solution for the player, who has been pushing strongly to leave.”
