Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus said he was happy to score four for the first time in his career, during the rout of Burton Albion in the semi-final first leg of the Carabo Cup.
The Champions were at their brilliant best as they thumped the third tier side 9-0. Brazil forward Gabriel hit an impressive four goals for the home side during the win. He will now hope this boosts his chances of more regular outings in the starting line up.
“I have never scored four before in my career, I am so happy for this. We played very well and with respect, that’s important,” Gabriel told Sky Sports.
“Players like me want to play more, to help the team, and we went out there to win.”
Regardless of the opposition, Jesus will be boosted by his goals. A striker thrives on confidence and ample game time, both of which have been in short supply for the Brazilian.
With games coming thick and fast, Jesus will hope he has given manager Pep Guardiola, something to think about with his team selection.
