Fulham host Hull City at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon, with the bottom club still searching for a first league win of the season.

Fulham have two points from six games and are two behind safety, while newly promoted Hull have nine and are unbeaten at home. It is the seventh time of asking for Fulham, who would equal their worst start to a top-flight season, in 1951-52, by not winning. Alvaro Arbeloa’s future has been the subject of reports ahead of this match and the following game at Coventry City. The sides last met in the FA Cup in January 2023, when Fulham won 2-0, and Fulham have won each of their last four meetings without conceding.

Team news

Fulham

Hugo Larsson (groin) is a doubt, with Arbeloa saying he is not sure the midfielder will be available. Antonee Robinson is available after missing the defeat at Ipswich Town with a knee problem, and Arbeloa said every other player is fit. Ryan Sessegnon, who scored at Ipswich in Robinson’s absence, could keep the left-back spot.

Hull City

Nobel Mendy (groin) is out for two weeks, Jakirovic confirmed, and Mohamed-Ali Cho (thigh) and Lucas Gourna-Douath (calf) are unavailable but could return next week. Matt Targett (ankle) is out for two months, joining Eliot Matazo (ACL), Ilyas Ansah (back), Darko Gyabi (groin), Jack Butland (arm) and Charlie Hughes (groin). Lucas Herrington, 19, is expected to deputise in the back three.

Form

Fulham

Fulham have taken two points from six league games (D2 L4) and have dropped eight points from winning positions, one fewer than Bournemouth. They conceded an 89th-minute equaliser against Manchester United, then lost 2-1 at Ipswich after Sessegnon gave them the lead, with Ipswich scoring twice in three minutes late on. They are without a win in three home games (D1 L2), conceding seven goals.

Hull City

Hull have nine points from six league games, their best return at this stage of a top-flight season since 2008-09, when they had 11. They came from behind to draw 2-2 at home to Everton last time out, with Mohamed Belloumi equalising as a substitute. After three clean sheets in their first three league games, they have conceded exactly two in each of their last three. Belloumi has three goals and two assists in six league games.

Fulham predicted XI: Leno; Tete, Affengruber, Bassey, Sessegnon; Berge, Charles; Bobb, King, Iwobi; Garcia

Hull City predicted XI: Tzolakis; Coyle, Ajayi, Egan, Herrington, Giles; Belloumi, Crooks, Slater, Thomas; McBurnie
