Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic has admitted that his side are defensively weak after they were savaged by a ruthless Arsenal side at Craven Cottage.
The Cottagers sit just two points clear of the relegation zone having been on the wrong end of a 5-1 hammering by an in form Arsenal side, who extended their run to nine wins on the bounce in all competitions.
Much was expected of Fulham this season after they splashed the cash in the summer, but the five goals that found their way into the back of the Lily Whites goal this afternoon means that they now have the worst defensive record in the Premier League, having conceded 21 goals in just eight games, leaving Slavissa Jokanovic to admit his side have ‘many weaknesses’:
“It is without any doubt a hard defeat for us, we tried to create things but showed many weaknesses as they scored easy goals,” the Serbian told BBC Sport.
“We tried to be offensive and play high with two full-backs to find a solution, but from the second goal it is clear the plan was not working. We really need to work on the weaknesses in the defensive side.
“It has to be a worry always [when you are conceding lots of goals]. It is a hard result, but today Arsenal showed their quality and pace. We have 90 [possible] points ahead of us and we need to be brave and keep on fighting.”
