Manchester City’s highly-rated midfielder Phil Foden scored a last-minute goal to seal a wonderful man of the match performance during his sides 3-0 victory over Oxford United in the Carabao Cup.
The 18-year-old grew up as a Man City fan and has long been heralded as one of the most talented young players in English Football.
In fact, Foden became the first player born after the year 2000 to score a goal for City and the England youth international admitted afterwards that scoring for his boyhood club is a dream come true.
“It’s hard to put into words – it hasn’t fully sunk in,” Foden told Man City’s official website.
“I’ve dreamed of this moment, growing up as a City supporter.
“My first goal is special to me and I’m happy to have helped the team to get the win.
“Mostly, when I was dreaming (about scoring for City), it was in the Premier League but in any competition, it’s special to get your first goal.
“I’m happy to get it. I couldn’t contain myself – I ran off, mad!
“It’s a moment I’ll never forget.”
