Promoted players can often be perfect enablers in Fantasy Premier League, cheap options that can free funds to invest in premium FPL talents.
There are plenty of intriguing low-cost options to pick from after Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton were promoted last season and we’ve looked at five players from that trio to consider in FPL this season.
Five promoted players to consider in Fantasy Premier League:
Defender: Leif Davis – Ipswich (ยฃ4.5m)
Leif Davis is an option that FPL bosses will be considering given the left-back’s attacking output in the second tier.
Davis led the Championship for assists in 2023-24 and has created 32 goals across the last two league seasons as Ipswich have secured back-to-back promotions.
A set-piece taker with a lovely left foot, Davis has the potential to be a regular point scorer for the Tractor Boys, who return to the Premier League for the first time since 2001-02.

Ipswich have a tough start with Liverpool and Manchester City in their first two games, before a fairly encouraging run of fixtures.
Defender: Taylor Harwood-Bellis – Southampton (ยฃ4m)
A regular starter priced at just ยฃ4m, there’s good reason that Taylor Harwood-Bellis is the most selected promoted player at the time of writing. Southampton signed the centre-back on a permanent deal from Manchester City after promotion, with Harwood-Bellis crucial to that success across 43 league appearances.
After captaining England to the 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, he will want to prove himself in the Premier League.
Defender: Yukinari Sugawara – Southampton (ยฃ4.5m)
Southampton’s ยฃ6m capture of Yukinari Sugawara looks like a coup with bigger clubs having circled for the AZ Alkmaar defender.
The Japan international scored four goals and laid on seven assists in the Eredivisie last season, with the defender signed amid doubts over Kyle Walker-Peters’ future at St Mary’s.

Sugawara looks a more than capable replacement and decent option for FPL, having ranked in the top 10% of Eredivisie full-backs for shots, assists, expected assists, crosses, key passes and completed long passes per 90 minutes. A set-piece taker, he recorded a whopping 6.73 crosses per game in the Netherlands last season.
Midfield: Abdul Fatawau – Leicester (ยฃ5.5m)
Leicester have made Abdul Fatawau’s loan from Sporting Lisbon permanent after the winger’s electric emergence last season. The 20-year-old scored six times and provided 13 assists in the Championship, with only three players creating more goals.
He ranked second for expected assists per 90, third for goal-creating actions per 90 and fourth for successful take-ons.

There are perhaps better and more established options at the ยฃ5.5m price point but Fatawau is certainly one to watch. He has bags of FPL potential.
Forward: Adam Armstrong – Southampton (ยฃ5.5m)
Adam Armstrong arrives in the Premier League with a point to prove this season. The forward has entered ‘the too good for the Championship, not good enough for the Premier League’ bracket in recent seasons, and will want to remove that label.
Armstrong has scored 49 goals in 86 appearances across his last two Championship campaigns, though just four in 53 top-flight games. Last season will have done the forward a world of good, however, as he led the Championship for goal involvements.

A regular starter and proven goalscorer, albeit in the second tier, his ยฃ5.5m price tag is appealing as a rotation/substitute option.
