The January transfer window will shut in a week’s time, but there’s still much to be decided. As the deadline draws nearer, here are five Premier League players who could still move clubs this month.
Jean-Philippe Mateta
Jean-Philippe Mateta has informed Crystal Palace of his desire to explore a transfer this month. Juventus have made the French forward a target, while Aston Villa have also enquired, though now appear to be prioritising Tammy Abraham.
Mateta has 18 months to run on his contract at Palace and the Eagles could decide now is an opportune time to sell – if a replacement can be brought in.

The 28-year-old has scored 38 league goals over the last two-and-a-half Premier League campaigns, form which has led to international recognition.
Mateta could form part of what is fast becoming an exodus at the Eagles, with Marc Guehi sold and Oliver Glasner set to leave in the summer.
Jorgen Strand Larsen
One name mentioned as a potential replacement for Mateta is Jorgen Strand Larsen. The Norwegian has piqued the interest of several Premier League teams, each hoping to capitalise on what is fast appearing an inevitable relegation for Wolves. Rob Edwards’ side are 17 points from safety and may cash in on Strand Larsen to fund a rebuild.
The Norway international scored 14 goals in the Premier League last season but has found 2025-26 tougher amid Wolves’ current plight. Leeds had a £33m bid rejected earlier in the window, with Wolves valuing the forward at closer to £40m.

Oscar Bobb
Fulham are in talks with Manchester City over a £35m deal to sign Oscar Bobb. The Norwegian looks set to be squeezed out at the Etihad, following the recent recruitment of Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth.
A broken leg derailed Bobb’s progress in 2024, just as he appeared on the cusp of the City side. He’s been unable to break back into Pep Guardiola’s plans and needs regular minutes for his development.
Joshua Zirkzee
Things are looking rosy for Manchester United under Michael Carrick, but Joshua Zirkzee has been on the outside looking in. Not included in the squad for wins over Manchester City and Arsenal, it’s been the theme of his season.
Zirkzee has started just four games in the Premier League this season and has netted only five league goals in 18 months at Old Trafford.
The club’s summer spending on strikers has seen him fall out of favour, though a clutch of clubs are ready to offer him a lifeline. AS Roma have been heavily linked.
Lucas Paqueta
Flamengo are pushing hard to bring Lucas Paqueta back to Brazil this month. After an initial offer was turned down by West Ham, an increased €41m (£35.5m) bid has been made for the Brazilian.
West Ham are reluctant to lose Paqueta as they battle relegation from the Premier League, but having won back-to-back league games without him in the side, a sale could be agreed to fund more new signings this month.
