Fire sale! Five Sevilla players who will tempt Premier League clubs

Sevilla have reportedly place their entire first-team squad up for sale as the club look to combat debts of around €90m.

Just weeks after winning a record-extending seventh Europa League talent, the Spanish side could see their squad decimated in a bid to cut costs and wipe out their debt.

There will be no shortage of takes for the club’s top talent and we’ve looked at five Sevilla stars who could tempt Premier League clubs.

Youssef En-Nesyri

Youssef En-Nesyri has been regularly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent windows and the forward’s transfer-listing is sure to have alerted several English clubs.

En-Nesyri has scored 35 goals in 110 league appearances for Sevilla and formed part of the Morocco team that reached the World Cup semi-finals in Qatar last winter.

The 26-year-old scored a famous winner as the Atlas Lions eliminated Portugal in the quarter-finals, leaping a staggering 2.78 metres (9.1 ft) to head home the decisive goal – a World Cup record for the highest recorded jump.

En-Nesyri has been linked with West Ham and Newcastle and has the athleticism to suit the demands of the Premier League. He scored 18 goals in all competitions last season, despite a disappointing domestic campaign for Sevilla.

Yassine Bounou

Another member of the Morocco team that became the first African nation to reach a World Cup semi-final, Yassine ‘Bono’ Bounou has been one of La Liga’s most reliable goalkeepers in recent campaigns.

Bono won the Zamora award – given to the goalkeeper who has the lowest goals-to-game ratio in Spain – and named in the La Liga Team of the Season during the 2021/22 campaign, before being included in the Europa League Team of the Season during Sevilla’s triumph in Europe last season.

The 32-year-old could be an ideal short-term option for top-flight sides in search of a new goalkeeper this summer, with Chelsea and Manchester United among those in search of a number one.

Sevilla are understood to have placed a €30m (£25.7m) price-tag on the Moroccan, who Estadio Deportivo report has received a proposal to join Al-Nassr ahead of The Saudi Pro League season.

Tanguy Nianzou

Tanguy Nianzou could be on the radar of English clubs as Sevilla look to cut costs and bring in funds. The centre-back signed for the Spaniards from Bayern Munich last summer and made 16 league starts during his debut season in La Liga.

An international with France at youth level, the 21-year-old has already won league titles at Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern, before departing for Sevilla in search of more regular first-team football.

Nianzou is strong in aerial duels and confident when carrying the ball in possession, with the youngster having ranked in the 95th percentile of centre-backs in Europe’s top five leagues for successful take-ons per 90 minutes last season.

He scored three goals in 30 appearances in all competitions and demonstrated attacking threat off set-pieces. Given his availability and potential, Nianzou could be an astute pick-up for any Premier League side.

Lucas Ocampos

Is a Premier League club prepared to gamble on coaxing the best from Lucas Ocampos?

Ocampos struggled during a difficult 2022/23 campaign, one which saw the winger sign on loan for Ajax last summer, only to return to Sevilla early after featuring for just 114 minutes for the Dutch side.

The 11-cap Argentina international has long been a mercurial talent, but one capable of producing fine moments in the final third when in form and confident. He scored 14 league goals for Sevilla during the 2019/20 season and has 39 in all competitions across four seasons with the club, a respectable return for a predominantly wide talent.

Fulham have been linked with a move for Ocampos and could accelerate their interest after Sevilla’s announcement that their entire squad is up for sale. Marco Silva’s side are in search of a replacement for Manor Solomon, who has signed for Tottenham on a free transfer after spending last season on loan at Craven Cottage.

Gonzalo Montiel

Gonzalo Montiel has had quite the season despite Sevilla’s disappointing La Liga campaign, with the right-back at the centre of successes for club and country.

Montiel scored the decisive penalty as Argentina beat France in the World Cup final in Qatar, before repeating the feat with the winning spot-kick as Sevilla won the Europa League in May.

The 26-year-old has spent two seasons in Europe after arriving from River Plate, where he won the Argentine Primera División and Copa Libertadores with the Argentinian side.

Montiel is reliable defensively and a consistent threat when venturing forward, with the South American boasting experience on big stages. The defender’s flexibility in being able to operate in various roles will appeal, though interested clubs will await the outcome of a reported legal case against the Argentine before launching a potential move.
