Fikayo Tomori has discussed his decision to turn down a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.
Tomori was a transfer target for Tottenham as Ange Postecoglou sought to strengthen his options at centre-back. Injuries to Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin left Spurs short of defensive options and an approach was made to bring Tomori back to the Premier League.
The 27-year-old has made just 11 league starts for Milan this season, though recently regained his place in the team under new head coach Sergio Conceicao.

The former Chelsea defender snubbed the switch to Spurs and has revealed he wants to stay at AC Milan for ‘as long as they want’ him. He is one of several English players currently with the Italian side, alongside Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tammy Abraham and Kyle Walker. The latter joined on loan from Manchester City in the winter transfer window.
After missing out on Tomori, Spurs instead signed Austria international Kevin Danso from French side Lens to ease their defensive issues.
โI never planned to leave AC Milan, thatโs very clear and simple,” Tomori said ahead of Milan’s Champions League clash with Feyenoord tonight.
โIโm just happy to be at this club and as long as they want me, I want to stay.”
On how he has adapted to the new Milan manager’s methods, Tomori added: “Obviously, the coach has his own ideas about where I should position myself. Iโd say we are more aggressive now.
“He wants us to step up on the attackers and force them into mistakes. I like defending this way. With Fonseca, I tried to follow his instructions sometimes it worked, sometimes it didnโt. Thatโs football, but I always tried to do my best for myself and for the team.”
Milan face Feyenoord in the second leg of their Champions League play-off tie at the San Siro this evening. The Rossoneri trail 1-0 from the first leg, after Igor Paixรฃo scored the only goal after just three minutes at De Kuip.
