Figo: ‘Real Madrid must sign Hazard’

Real Madrid legend Luis Figo has told his former club that they simply must sign Eden Hazard, describing the Chelsea star as ‘one of the best there is’.

Real Madrid have got off to a disappointing start to their La Liga campaign, and go into today’s El Clasico sat in eighth in the league, five points off current league leaders and Madrid based rivals, Atletico.

The 13-time European champions took the decision to allow Cristiano Ronaldo to join Juventus in the summer in a deal worth £100 million, but surprisingly also decided not to bring in a direct replacement, despite being strongly linked with a move for Eden Hazard.

The Chelsea winger has since gone on to enjoy a superb start to the Premier League campaign, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in just nine appearances.

However, despite saying that he is happy at Stamford Bridge, Hazard has recently described a move to the Bernabeu as a ‘dream’, leaving former Real Madrid attacker Luis Figo to urge Los Blancos to add the 27-year-old to their ranks.

“Real Madrid must sign Hazard without any doubt,” he told streaming service DAZN.

“He is an excellent player, one of the best there is at the moment and I think he wants to play for Real. In addition, he is one of the few players who is not linked with big teams in the long term.”
