The first Premier League game of the weekend is just hours away, as West Ham host Manchester United at the Lindon stadium, and one former player of both sides, Rio Ferdinand, has delivered his prediction for the game.
West Ham got their season off to a terrible start, losing their opening four games of the campaign to leave them rock bottom of the Premier League. Their form has however recovered in recent weeks, putting in an impressive performance in their 3-1 win over Everton, and could have quite easily have beaten Chelsea last time out if it weren’t for Andriy Yarmolenko’s wayward second-half header.
Manchester United, on the other hand, have arguably had a worse start than the Hammers, already dropping eight points so far this season, with defeats to Brighton and Spurs the most standout results so far.
They drew against Wolves last week before being dumped out the Carabao Cup by Championship side Derby County in midweek to pile the pressure on Mourinho’s men.
Speaking ahead of today’s game, Rio Ferdinand has given his verdict on the early kick-off in East London.
“Two of my former clubs. I dunno who I want to win man,” he told his Instagram followers on the way to the game.
“I’d take a draw now, a 2-2 draw, an entertaining draw I’d take right now.
“I just fancy Man Utd, they are better away from home at the moment. They have more pressure at home and look more comfortable away from home. Tight, compact, and hitting teams on the break.
“I’m just hoping for an entertaining game. A few goals, let’s go.”
