Everton are set to beat Arsenal to the signing of Steven N’Zonzi according to reports today.

Reports last week suggested that Arsenal have already tied to up a deal to bring the midfielder back to the Premier League next month in a deal worth around £35m.

However, in a turn of events the Daily Mirror report that Everton are confident that they are in pole position to sign the French midfielder. It is claimed that the deal will initially be on a season long loan with a view to making the move permanent next summer.

The Frenchman, who has two-and-a-half years left on his contract at the Ramón Sanchez Pizjuan stadium, has been left unhappy after being left out of some of Sevilla’s last few games after he missed training.

N’Zonzi is of course no stranger to the Premier League, having spent three years at Blackburn Rovers and a further three seasons at Stoke City before his shock move to La Liga. During his time in Spain, he has won the Europa League, a competition Arsenal are trying to win this season after last years fifth placed finish.
