Everton have emerged as favourites to sign out-of-contract Arsenal star Danny Welbeck.
The England international will leave the Emirates after five years in north London this summer, with a host of Premier League clubs interested in signing the forward on a free transfer.
According to the Evening Standard, Everton are in pole position to sign the 28-year-old, ahead of the likes of Newcastle, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Wolves.
Welbeck is keen to join a club with European ambitions as he bids to force his way back into the England squad ahead of Euro 2020, with Everton’s strong end to the season making them an attractive proposition.
Everton are believed to be ready to offer the former Manchester United man an increase on his current £100,000-a-week wages, as Marco Silva looks to add quality to his forward line.
The Merseyside club want to bolster their attacking options this summer, with the likes of Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse having failed to fill the void left by Romelu Lukaku’s departure in 2017.
