Everton failed with a deadline Day move for Benfica striker Raul Jimenez according to reports in Portugal.
A Bola claim that Ronald Koeman made a Deadline Day loan move for Jimenez, who scored 11 goals for the Portuguese side last season, offering a €2m loan fee to secure the strikers services.
It is claimed that Benfica were willing to listen to offers for the striker, but only for a permanent deal with them valuing their striker at £46m.
Koeman was desperately seeking to add a powerful new striker to his ranks, following the £75m departure of Romelu Lukaku.
They had also been linked with Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud and Chelsea’s Diego Costa. As it turned out, neither striker left their club, with Giroud choosing to stay at the Emirates while conversely Costa was unable to force a Stamford Bridge exit.
Everton have started the season with youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Sandro Ramirez leading the Blues’ line so far in the early stages of this season this season.
