Everton boss Silva gives positive injury update ahead of Cardiff game

Marco Silva has provided some good news ahead of Everton’s clash with Cardiff City at Goodison Park on Saturday.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has been passed fit for the game and looks set to start for the Toffees.

Silva confirmed the availability of Everton‘s Icelandic international, as well as Andre Gomes, when speaking to reporters on Friday.

“We had some worries during the week about Gylfi but he’s okay and that’s good,” Silva told his pre-match press conference.

“Gylfi and Gomes are okay. They are available for selection this weekend.”

Everton’s form has improved after a stumbling start to the season,  a 2-1 defeat at Manchester United their only loss in five games.

Ahead of the international break, Silva’s team managed to hold high-flying Chelsea to a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge in a game where Yerry Mina made his full league debut following his summer move from Barcelona.

Everton are currently 9th in the league, just a point behind Man United, Watford and Bournemouth, although a win against Cardiff could potentially lift them into the top six in the Premier League.
