Liverpool and West Ham have learned their opponents for the Europa League quarter-finals following the draw for the last-eight of the competition.
Liverpool thrashed Sparta Prague 11-2 on aggregate to reach this stage and will face Atalanta in the quarter-finals. The Italian outfit are currently sixth in the Serie A table.
West Ham beat SC Freiburg 5-0 in a brilliant second-leg turnaround after defeat in Germany and last season’s Europa Conference League winners take on Bayer Leverkusen in another tie against Bundesliga opponents.
Leverkusen are unbeaten in all competitions this season, sit 10 points ahead of Bayern Munich in their pursuit of a maiden Bundesliga crown, and are targeting a treble under Xabi Alonso. West Ham and Liverpool cannot meet until the final, after the semi-final draw kept the two Premier League teams apart.
Elsewhere, there’s a huge all-Italian match-up between AC Milan and AS Roma. The latter reached the Europa League final last season, before defeat to Sevilla. Benfica will meet Marseille in the other quarter-final tie.
