Tottenham Hotspur secured a sweet victory over struggling Burnley with a late goal at Wembley in the Premier League.
Christian Eriksen scored the all-important goal with a nice finish following a long ball from Kieran Trippier that was laid off by Harry Kane in the 90th minute.
The Dane was sent on as a 65th minute substitute in place of Lucas Moura, and the change evidently had the desired effect for Spurs.
“Every time you come on you want to make an impact. To score in extra time was extra nice,” Eriksen told the official Premier League channel.
“Any goal if it is your first or number 20 is always very important and it is nice to score. The games are so close if you drop any points… getting in a flow like we are now, feeds confidence.
“We try to win every game not just at Christmas! We are in a good situation and feel confident going into any game.
Eriksen also praised 18-year-old midfielder Oliver Skipp, who made his full debut for the North London club on Saturday.
“He has come up out of nowhere in training and pre-season, he is learning he is not scared of anything, he made the first mistake in the game but he didn’t make one after.”
