Erik ten Hag believes Manchester United ‘deserved to win’ during the club’s dramatic defeat at Arsenal.
United suffered a second defeat of the Premier League season after conceding twice in stoppage time to lose 3-1 at Arsenal.
Ten Hag’s team had taken the lead through Marcus Rashford’s first-half effort, but goals from Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus – the latter two scored after the 96th minute – turned the game around for the north Londoners.
United impressed in periods, but were unable to secure a result as the club’s poor away record against the Premier League’s top teams continued.
Despite the defeat, Ten Hag was pleased with aspects of his side’s performance and believes the Red Devils deserved more from the game.
“I think we deserved to win this game but you don’t always get what you deserve,” Ten Hag told BBC MOTD.
“I look more at how we step up and if you see from the Wolves game to this game there is big progression. Tonight was a team, I am really happy with this performance and the progress of our performance.
“We did well, we make progress, stick to the plan and believe and in the future we will win games like this.”
