Emery says Arsenal are improving following ‘competitive’ Watford win

Unai Emery thinks that his Arsenal team are improving under his management, after grabbing all three points in what he described as a ‘competitive’ game against Watford this afternoon.

The Gunners have now won seven games on the spin in all competitions for the first time in almost two years, a result which leaves them just four points off the top of the table, and outside of the top four on goal difference.

Despite Arsenal allowing Watford to have 13 shots during the game, with only four hitting the target, Unai Emery said that his side are gaining momentum:

“The team suffered in the 90 minutes as it was very competitive but they worked hard,” Emery told Match of the Day.

“I think we improved in the match and it is good for our momentum and continuing to improve. We will look at Petr Cech’s injury. He is playing well but Bernd Leno continued the performance for us and it is a good example for the squad. We need every player.

“It is clear also that we are improving in getting more competitive in the difficult moments. Our quality is on the pitch when we need it.

“We will prepare for each match like this. We want to improve and give ourselves opportunities. Hopefully is it the same next time and we continue doing our way.”
