Arsenal progressed to the semi-final of the Europa League for the second season in a row, after beating Napoli 1-0 away tonight.
The Gunners went into tonight’s fixture at the San Paolo Stadium with a 2-0 lead from the first leg and the tie was effectively put to bed when French striker Alexandre Lacazette struck a superb free-kick into the top corner on 36 minutes.
Speaking after what was a thoroughly professional display, Arsenal boss Unai Emery admitted he was happy with how his side performed over the course of both legs.
“I am proud of the players,” Emery told BT Sport.
”We started very well. The first half was good because after we scored we continued not to give them opportunities.
”We defended well second half. In the two matches we can be happy to win against Napoli.”
Arsenal will now play La Liga outfit Valencia in the semi-final, and Emery is expecting a tough game against his former club.
“They are a very good team with goods players. It will be a difficult match for us.”
