Emery promises Welbeck ‘more chances’ after Arsenal brace

Unai Emery has said that Danny Welbeck’s brace against Brentford in the Carabao Cup will earn him more regular chances to perform in the Arsenal first team.

Welbeck has now made six appearances for Arsenal this season, scoring four goals, but he has yet to start a game in the Premier League.

However, the former Manchester United forward’s brace against Championship side Brentford in their 3-1 Carabao Cup win at the Emirates left Gunners boss Unai Emery to lavish praise on the England international.

“Danny Welbeck gives us his commitment every day. When he’s playing with a performance like today, he’s helping the team. We want this,” Emery said in his post-match press conference.

“Also, more chances to find the first XI for the next matches with performances like today.

“Every player’s future is important. It is for the club and the player.

“But the performance and the commitment is very high. I would be happy with Danny Welbeck.”
