Emery heaps praise on ‘world-class’ Ozil after Europa League win

Unai Emery revealed his happiness after Arsenal progressed to the next round of the Europa League, singling out Mesut Ozil in particular for praise.

The Gunners overcame a one goal deficit in the first leg against BATE Borisov to win 3-1 on aggregate and move onto the round of 16 at the Belarusians’ expense.

A notable inclusion in the starting line-up was playmaker Ozil, who had played just 76 minutes in the preceding month ahead of Thursday night’s knockout tie, in which the German played the full 90 minutes.

The Arsenal manager was effusive in his praise for the midfielder following the final whistle, pointing out how crucial he was to the win.

‘We know what Mesut’s like because we see him in training every day,’ Emery told BT Sport.

‘He’s world-class. We scored three goals as a result of him playing. I know if I make a run he has the vision to find me. Hopefully he can keep on playing.

‘We showed that we are able to make a fighting comeback as a team. We have had good and bad moments this season but the aim is to keep improving and I’m really happy we got through.’
