Emery praises Mesut Ozil for his ‘big performance’ v Burnley

Arsenal boss, Unai Emery, was left singing the praises of Mesut Ozil after his performance today in The Gunners’ 3-1 win 0ver Burnley this afternoon.

Ozil wore the captain’s armband and reminded fans of just what he is capable of as Arsenal went level on points with Chelsea.

The former Germany international’s performance earned him some kind words from Emery after the game.

“It was a big performance today and afterwards I said congratulations for your work. Every player showed his quality and their characteristics. We needed him to work to help us today and he did,” Emery told BBC’s MOTD.

Ozil played in the number 10 role behind a front two of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

It was Ozil’s eleventh Premier League start of the season and saw him return to the starting eleven after he was left on the bench for the Gunners 3-2 defeat at Southampton last Sunday.

The former Real Madrid playmaker has been at Arsenal for over five years now, having signed in early September 2013 for Arsene Wenger.
