Emery discusses collapse of Ramsey contract negotiations

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has been talking to the press today ahead of his sides Premier League clash against Watford tomorrow at the Emirates.

News emerged yesterday that negotiations over a new contract for the Gunners longest serving player Aaron Ramsey have broken down, meaning it looks like the 27-year-old midfielder will end his 10-year association with Arsenal at the end of this season when his current deal expires.

However, speaking to the press today Emery refused to give much away about the highly-rated Wales international, insisting that he is solely focused on tomorrow’s game.

”There are three elements, three aspects. One is the player and also the player with their family and representatives. The other is the club and the other is the squad,” Emery told his pre-match press conference.

”My focus is always on the team. My focus is preparing with the players and only thinking about the match tomorrow.

”Each player has individual aspects to work or to do or to speak with the club or with the team, but my aspect for the focus, only to think, is the matches and preparing for the matches and to speak with the players if they are thinking and are very concentrated on work for giving us the best performance and to help the collective performance.”

Arsenal will be aiming to make it seven wins in a row in all competitions when they welcome the Hornets to North London tomorrow afternoon.
