Arsenal boss Unai Emery has revealed that while the Gunners are open to making signings in January they will only do so if the right player becomes available.
The Gunners are currently in fifth place in the table, and while most fans and pundits would agree that Emery has done a decent job since taking over at the Emirates, the general feeling remains that the squad he inherited from Arsene Wenger still needs major surgery if the club are going to become regular members of the top four again.
Even before the current defensive injury crisis Arsenal had looked shaky at the back, although Emery doesn’t seem to want to rush into the market unless it is for a player who will improve his side.
“It depends if the transfer market can help you – only if there are players who can help us in different positions. The club is looking to see.” Emery told BBC Sport after yesterday’s 4-1 win over Fulham at the Emirates.
Arsenal face Blackpool away in the FA Cup on Saturday.
