Arsenal boss Unai Emery is looking forward to finally being able to utilise Laurent Koscielny again, and has been describing the qualities he brings to the Gunners side.
Despite being on a 20 match unbeaten streak, Arsenal have shown a number of frailties at the back in the vast majority of their games this season.
They have had to play all season without club captain and first choice central defender Laurent Koscielny, who has been sidelined for seven months with an Achilles tendon problem. However, Gunners boss Unai Emery has said that he could make his long-awaited return this weekend against Huddersfield.
“We are on a gradual way with him,” Emery said in his pre-match press conference.
“He’s played two matches with the under-23s. He played 85 minutes on Tuesday and our plan is that he can maybe be with us in the 18 on Saturday.
“Maybe he can play against Qarabag in the Europa League. He’s working with us with very big performances every day in training. He’s playing for the under-23s with a good feeling. The next step is for him to be with us.
Emery went on to describe what qualities the 33-year-old will bring to his side.
“He gives us experience, quality, personality,” he added.
“We need every player and we need also for him to train with us. The next step is playing. He can play with us and be with us normally.”
Emery has recently revealed that Koscielny delivered an impassioned speech to inspire Arsenal to victory in the North London derby.
