Emery admits Arsenal’s away form is ‘a concern’ after West Ham defeat

Unai Emery has admitted that he is concerned by Arsenal’s away form this season following today’s 1-0 defeat to West Ham.

West Ham youngster Declan Rice scored the only goal of the game at the London Stadium this afternoon – the first goal of his senior career – in a result which seriously dents the Gunners hopes of finishing in the top four.

Speaking after the game, Unai Emery admitted that his Arsenal side wasn’t good enough in midfield, and said that he was concerned with their form away from the Emirates.

“It is disappointing. It is a concern. We need to be competitive both home and away. Away we are not taking the results we want. We had to do more today to impose ourselves. If we can be better in the 90 minutes – competitive and quality – we can do it,” Emery told Sky Sports.

“We lost the ball a lot in the middle. We could improve in the second, but their goal changed the game. They did good work in defence.”

The defeat in East London was Arsenal’s third defeat on the road from their last four games away from home.
