Arsenal manager Unai Emery has admitted that he is aiming to finish above Spurs this season ahead of Saturday’s North London derby.
However, successive defeats against Burnley and Chelsea in the space of four days have seen Mauricio Pochetino’s side slide out of the Premier League title race and leave them looking over their shoulders, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea all aiming to steal their place in the top four.
With Arsenal set to face their North London rivals at Wembley on Saturday afternoon, Unai Emery has said that he is looking to steer his side above Tottenham in the final 10 games of the season.
“We have been speaking about the opportunity [to finish above Tottenham],” said Emery at his pre-match press conference.
“Each match is giving us the opportunity to win three points. There were 10 points between us and Tottenham two weeks ago and now it is four points.
“The big opportunity for us is to play with confidence in our moment. They have lost two matches but they are still having a very good season.
“We must play with confidence but free our minds and do things with a focus on our game-plan.”
