Unai Emery has revealed that everybody at Arsenal is helping star playmaker Mesut Ozil deal with the continued fall out from his decision to retire from international football with Germany.
Ozil’s decision to quit playing for Germany after this summer World Cup in Russia on the basis of alleged racial discrimination has divided opinion in his homeland and reaction to his announcement continues to dominate the headlines.
“We are here to help him,” Emery told a press conference.
“We are his family and [the club] is his home. In our careers, as coaches and players, we are going to receive criticism. When we do well they are also going to speak about us well. It’s a habit for us to have critics. But we are professional. We need to live with this. Here [at Arsenal] we need and we want to help him.”
